Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain

Sunday morning, Brooklyn’s calling. It’s just a restless feeling by my side.

I know, I know–plagiarizing Lou Reed is cheesy. I’m aware, thank you. But seriously, waking up on Sunday with nothing to do, nicht plans, and having New York City and its neighboring boroughs at your fingertips is quite titillating, no?

So I flew over the Manhattan bridge through Dumbo to Carroll Gardens. I wanted an egg cream and I wanted it now. I stepped through the doors of Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Fountain and was immediately transported to my favorite soda fountain in Pasadena (but a 1920′s-accented version). What’s that, vintage-clad waitress who looks like she just stepped off a dairy farm, you have seasonal egg creams? I’m now slowly dying because she tells me today’s flavors are blueberry and strawberry. But the ice cream looks too damn good to pass up. In an attempt to solve the world’s problems she suggests a “Flatbush Ave Float”, or a blueberry egg cream topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Yes, that is what I need.

I take a sip and melt faster than the creamy-sweet Adirondack Creamery ice cream in my glass. At times, Sundays are just too goddamn glorious for words. Good thing I had my camera.
